TRINITY JUNIOR CLUB TEAMS IN STRONG POSITION 13/02/2012
The J3 team, under the stewardship of new coach Travis Partridge, has enjoyed a successful season so far. The added organisation and intensity in training has seen this talented group of players prosper over the course of the league campaign. They currently sit third in the Junior league after five impressive victories and just two narrow defeats to strong Clontarf and Barnhall teams. League leaders Clontarf’s hundred per cent record was halted by Trinity last month after a heroic display by the thirds earned a hard-fought draw in Castle Avenue. With four games remaining the juniors hope to challenge for at least the runners-up position, putting them in good stead for the cup campaign which follows the conclusion of the league.
The J4 team, which has struggled for numbers in recent years, is thriving so far this season. The team very much embodies the spirit of Junior rugby in the club, combining the social side of the game off the pitch with excellence and dedication on it. Lying in second place, just four points off the leaders De La Salle, the fourths are very much in the race for the top spot. A try tally of thirty-six scored with just fourteen conceded speaks for itself in terms of the impressive performances that the team has produced so far. The fourths are looking forward to a tricky away tie in the coming weeks to the league leaders in the hopes of sealing a first league victory in many years. Date to be confirmed.
Well done to Travis Partridge and Dave McLoughlin, coaches and Mark Donnelly Orr, Junior Secretrary. C’mon the Trin!
