TRINITY JUNIOR TEAMS WIN ON THE WEEKEND!!
02/11/2008
With the 1st XV, on a bye. It was good for the other teams in the club to take centre stage.
On Sunday the Senior 2nds travelled out to Terenure College determined to keep their place at the top of the Metro J1 league section B. They did this is in fine form winning out 44-0 with the forwards dominating possession and the backs running well off the good possession.
This is an impressive result with Terenure being an AIBL 1st Division outfit. Damien Quinn and Noel Hayden’s charges have not conceded a try since the first game of the season in early September. After six games they are six points clear at the top of the league. Competition for places on the 1st XV is the best it has been for many years. The 2nds play Barnhall next weekend.
The U20s Premier team, sneaked a 20-18 win at Old Belvedere. In what was always going to be a difficult game against last years Schools cup winning team. Trinity just pulled it off with out – half David Joyce kicking a 40M penalty to win the game. The Trinity U20s are still in a rebuilding stage and this win will stand to the new look squad. They have won both their league games to date. Like the Senior 2nds they face Barnhall next weekend.
The U20s Pennant squad also had a close game against the well organised Newbridge U20s team at Santry . They led 11-3 with five minutes to go when the visitors scored to raise the heartbeat for the closing minutes!! Trinity won out 11-10 to remain undefeated in league play. Three wins from three. They play in St Marys next week.
The Trinity J3s and J4s lost their respective games at home to Suttonians 35-3 and Wanderers 25-10
