TRINITY LOSE IN FINAL MINUTES OF GAME! 12/09/2009 UCD 20pts Trinity 13pts Trinity lost this Leinster Senior Cup pool game to Belfield rivals UCD in injury time. Trinity out half David Joyce kicked a penalty on full time and it looked like the teams would share the points on offer, a result which would have been deserved by both teams. UCD had other ideas and sneaked over for a soft try after a woeful lapse in concentration by the visiting team.
The game started at a very high tempo in perfect conditions at the Belfield bowl. UCD kicked a penalty early on. Trinity came back with a superb try after several phases of play involving the entire team. Inside centre Conor Mills scored his first senior try when he ran a beautiful line off a pass by wing Neil Hanratty to finish the movement by the posts.
Trinity probably created more opportunities than the home side but some below par ball handling let them down on several occasions after some terrific approach work.
Midway through the first half UCD instigated a turnover at ruck time and punished the Trinity team with a well taken try. UCD led 10-7 at half time.
In the second half both teams had opportunities to score. Trinity kicked a penalty and UCD returned the compliment to keep the lead 13-10. The game kind of lost it’s way towards the end before Joyce brought the scores to level. The rest is history as UCD won the game.

Wing Colin Murphy did pick up a 80 metre try when he picked off a loose pass and ran in unopposed. Trinity won out 24-0 getting the important bonus point for four tries.
