TRINITY QUALIFY FOR ALL IRELAND SEVENS
21/05/2011
Trinity entered the Leinster Sevens on Saturday last which was very much unknown territory for the Club, with only one player having played sevens previously.
Trinity selected a young but fast team and won their group, defeating Blackrock 44 - 0; Terenure 55 - 5; and Navan 44-7; (seven minutes each way). This put them into the Semi-Final with All Ireland Club Champions experienced sevens players Old Belvedere to whom the students lost a tough physical battle 12 - 5 in a game where they had opportunities to score. Old Belvedere went on to win the final easily against Clontarf.
Trinity have now qualified for the All-Ireland Sevens in St. Marys, Templeville Road, this coming Saturday (21st May) where they will play in a group consisting of UL Bohs; Clontarf and Queens. The second group consists of Old Belvedere, City of Derry, Corinthians and Garryowen. First Trintiy Game kicks off at 11.40a.m.
