TRINTY LOSE OUT IN DONNYBROOK 07/10/2011
Bective 19pts Trinity 12pts – October 7th 2011 Trinity underachieved under the lights of Donnybrook on Friday night. In a game they could have won they were beaten by the hungrier team on the night. Trinity started brightly and probably just shaded the first half territorially and possession wise. Former Trinity player John Byrne ran in untouched for Bective from 20 metres out right on half time for the only try of the game. Bective defended well with great spirit and deserved their lead. Trinity out half and Captain Dave Joyce kicked four penalties from four on the night. It was 13-6 at half time. Trinity came back to 13-9 and 16-12, but could not break the determined defence of the home team. The game was so frustrating to watch. The home team tended to go down injured on every play and the game took forever to complete. This was in an effort to slow the game down to a “snails“ pace. It worked very well on the night and they played the referee perfectly, because of this Bective took the spoils, Trinity did get a bonus point for their efforts in a disappointing game. James O’Donoghue, 14 Neil Hanratty, 13 Ciaran Wade, 12 Paddy Lavelle, 11 Niyi Adeolukan (Ariel Robles 60), 10 Dave Joyce, 9 Mick McLoughlin (Billy Glynn 75), 1 Ian Hirst, 2 Warren Larkin (Tim O’Mahony 60),3 Paddy McCabe (Paul McFeely 50), 4 Colin MacDonnell, 5 Jack Kelly, 6 Colm Goode (Eamon Guinan 50), 7 Dominic Gallagher, 8 Jack Dilger.
Other news; Trinity J1s lost to a strong Lansdowne team in College Park 19-0 in an extremely competitive game. Lansdowne scored on the last play of the game. Trinity had their opportunities but failed to convert them. Trinity J3s won their opening league game in Monkstown 32-7. Travis Partridge’s men played some superb rugby winning well. Trinity J4s went down heavily to UCD in Belfield. Trinity U21s squad both played their opening league games in Terenure yesterday. The Premier XV won out 6 tries to 1 winning 38-18 against a plucky home team. The Pennant XV won well getting the bonus point 27-10. A great start to the new campaign for the Students. |
