Congratulations to Max on his return to a Scottish 7s contract. This raises the prospect of Max and current D.U.F.C. player Bryan Mollen and Irish 7s winger facing each other in international 7s rugby.

McFarland went to Clongowes Wood College and the 24-year old has represented Ireland at all age grade levels up to and including U20s and won the All Ireland League with his club Clontarf in 2015 and was a key contributor to D.U.F.C. gaining promotion to AIL 1A in the season 2015/16, scoring a scintillating try in the play off game at Ballynahinch.

In his time in Scotland previously, the winger trained with Edinburgh Rugby and played for both Boroughmuir and Watsonians in the BT Premiership. He returns to Scotland having spent a pre-season with Munster.

Speaking exclusively to Warriors TV, McFarland said: “The opportunity to work under Dave Rennie was a huge pull to come to Glasgow.

“One of my coaches back in Clontarf used to work with Dave and I’ve only ever heard the best of things so I’m really looking forward to training under his guidance.

“The 7s are such a great group of boys, a good mix of experience and young fellas coming through and I’m excited to be involved with them as well as Glasgow.”

Glasgow Warriors Assistant Coach Jason O’Halloran said: “Max is an exciting player who’s acceleration has the ability to cause teams problems. He will add to our already healthy competition in the wing position and we’re excited to see what he’s capable of.”
